Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
Tribolite, Scroll is a Maoist website. Even then I started reading it as you are claiming the Ujjwala scheme to be a failure. After a few paragraphs I stopped as there were many fallacies. Bottomline is that similar claims were made for Jan Dhan accounts which was touted as failure. Today they have...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
Just because one is RW does not mean one should not sample news/opinion from a variety of sources. Otherwise one is likely to live in a bubble! Business-Standard from which I posted this article is in general tends to be very pro Modi, so there has to be reason they have decided to syndicate this ar...

Govt. flagship Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana does not seem to be doing too well. Most poor are not able to afford to pay for the gas. They buy only a few cylinder if any at all.
PM's plan for free gas connections failing as govt had been warned it would

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
Even if the opposition is not able to form a mahagathbandhan, imagine a scenario where BJP/NDA falls short of the 272 majority ( a loss of 60+ seats ), it will find it very hard to form a govt. as entire opposition will gang up against BJP. Some major horse trading ( buying ) may be required then to...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
We can't really build a strong military by reducing the military expenditure as % of GDP. It is down to just 1.58% of GDP, it used to be around 2.5%. Recall that last time the defence allocation was this low, we suffered a humiliating defeat at the hand of Chinese and lost chunk of our land. For co...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
For months BJP spokespersons advocated in support of Karni Sena and ban on Padmavat ?? BJP leaders issued fatwa against Padmavat and announced Rs 10 crore award for the heads of SLB, Rs 10 Lakh for Deepika's nose??[/i] if so I am unaware, kindly quote links/references regarding this ^ but there are...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
It was a Congress operation through and through. There were no disturbances in Congress ruled states, only in BJP ruled ones. Karni Sena will pop up again just before 2019 elections Are you serious?! That sounds like a case of serious cognitive dissonance to me! You mean Congress has so much penetr...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
Will this help in election in Karnataka ? My personal opinion is that as more and more people are able to see through these events, such strategies will produce diminishing returns. It may have worked in the recent Gujarat elections but Karnataka is very different state than Gujarat. BJP instead sho...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
one key takw away from Islamic conquest on India is that don't be weak militarily. Babar was able to defeat Lodhi + Rajput kings due to his archery & canons. He encircled army of Lodhi and fired canons killing many and frightening elephants. War was over in less than half a day due to superior war ...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
Standing your ground on Indic issues is not vigilantism. The tolerance, thick skin, thin consience, ahimsa, athithi devo bhava, sama bhav etc is what we have been practising for the last 800 years for our rapists and enemies Standing up for ground on indic or any xyz_ic issue can be done within the...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
Agreed that we need to be more thick skinned and pick battles which are worth fighting but courts are joke in India and for ages, Bhaiwood has been taking liberty with Hindus showing them in debauched state. Sometimes fear of Vigilantism is a great motivating factor. Agree that our court/law admini...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
It was a case of once bitten twice shy. We need to send a clear message to the film industry that if you want to make a movie on Indian history make it authentic or face the consequences. I hope you are not threatening more vigilantism. Vigilantism is turning India into banana republic. If people h...

I too thought that the batting side has the choice of roller to use but cricinfo said umpires decided to use heavy roller. If it was the batting sides choice, I guess they were within their rights. Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
In that case the vigilantism by Karni Sena needs to be applauded. I wish we have such vigilant forces that screen each and every movie of BIFs and correct them. Supporting vigilantism by caste groups is a bad idea. India has over 5000+ caste groups, just imagine the level of chaos it will cause if ...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
AFAIK, that dream scene was real. The original Karni Sena protests started because they allegedly saw that dream scene being filmed on location and objected to it. Bansali refused and they slapped him. This is where reports of the dream scene emerged... from a live audience. I doubt this is a rumor...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
I saw Padmavat over the weekend and would put this movie in the same genre as Bahubali movies. A very realistic (of that times) action movie with aptly showing the brave Rajputs. There were some mistakes like Malik Kafur is shown as a man from somewhere in middle east. Malik Kafur as a child (Hindu...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
Why is there so much whining about RM's post? If somebody does not want to read his posts he/she has the option of putting RM on ignore list. That should be easy, no? Frankly all this whining about RM's post is getting tiring. The guys makes one post and then it is followed 10 whine post about his p...
Re: Cricket
The answer has to be most certainly a no. Finally we win one, including Rahane in the team made all the difference! The team selection could be further improved by finding a role of Pandya in the team or a better suited player in his slot. IMO he needs to play more T20's and ODI's than tests. Test m...

Seems like the Karni Sena and their backers have made a complete ass of themselves. At least that is what the audience thinks. Padmaavat: What’s the fuss about? Viewers wonder after watching Bhansali’s film ... A Rajput viewer, who requested anonymity, made it a point to watch the first show in Mumb...

Re: The Great Indian Political Drama - Oct 2017
What is completely bizarre in this whole Padmavati saga is that there is absolutely nothing in the movie which can be even remotely termed offensive! Still the drama goes on!
Re: Cricket
You are talking about "specific swinging" pitches, that is a bogus criteria. Test stats are not categorized by specific pitch conditions. Steve Smith has a average of 47+ in England, that is pretty decent average.
