Long time lurker and very very occasional poster on brf. I remember how the politics thread was growing as the 2014 results were coming in.

Nice to see a lot of folks here already. I have the same id on brf/BGF.

Joining in, same ID. I know it is odd, but that's been my handle on the net since '97 or so.

Some suggestions/qutestions if I may.

1. I am very happy to contribute to the upkeep and whatever other costs that are incurred.

2. Please, NO likes/dislikes/thanks for posts. This creates cliques and mutual-admiration groups that are harmful to the integrity of the forum.

3. We need to moderate ourselves, members, humble request to avoid ad-hominem attacks. Let the opposite POV exist, ignore the post/author if you do not like the substance.

4. To avoid the menace of lawsuits and such (or worse actions), suggest posting third party content without editorializing.

5. Is the threat less if the forum is hosted outside India? I am assuming BRF is based in India. If a US location would offer greater indemnity against lawsuits or other threats (if that was what caused the demise of GDF), should we consider moving BGR elsewhere? If the cost is an issue, I am quite willing to support it and I am sure there will be plenty of others willing to pitch in.

Hello folks,

1. Thanks for all the offers to help financially. After some thought I decided to decline that. At least for now.
2. We will have moderator and phpbb admin nomination later today.
3. We will not cause any harm to BRF. That is 'tharavad', and we are a 'branch family'. We will uphold the 'family honor'.
4. We should not be seen as a serious platform. That will give us some immunity against targeting. BRF got into trouble because it is indeed a serious forum. Starting with and focusing on GDF is a good way for that.
